DECEMBER
The closing of the year 2000 saw the arrival of the Asylum. A month usually associated with the birth of christ and a fat man in a suit bringing kids presents would now forever be known as the month that spawned the most violent and obscene show in the history of television.
Chris Credible introduced himself to the world, a wrestler well out of his depth, he proved to be quite rubbish.
The founder five members of the Asylum roster did battle for the dishonour of becoming the first ever Asylum Champion. A short and bloody battle between Archangel, Inmate, Matthew, Pete Borst and Sanjuro saw relative unknown Borst cause an upset victory to become champion.
Archangel became the first ever Television Champion having finished runner up.
Upset with being beaten, Sanjuro decided to stage a protest by burning Borst's face badly... it was to be the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
Graphic Violence arrived in the Asylum, and proceeded to destroy pretty much everything, the cunt.
Joe Campbell confronted Graphic Violence following his decision to destroy the Asylum cage with an anvil, discussions went well until GV decided to drop Joe through the announcers table head first and spit on him.
Archangel & Borst defeated Sanjuro & Matthew in team competition thanks to a lucky Borst punch.
Female competitor Nerva raised eyebrows by making her Asylum debut and defeating Inmate with a little help from Koji Tamura, her victory proved to be a sign of things to come.
Reno Davis, Irish Brawler, Nerva and Koji Tamura all made advances in an ongoing U.K. title tournament.
Sanjuro defeated Chris Credible, nobody was surprised.
Reno Davis and Koji Tamura both made advances in an ongoing U.K. title number one contender tournament.
Joe Campbell revealed a secret weapon in his battle with Graphic Violence, a secret weapon called Tommy Gunn (no, not an actual gun but a bloke from Scotland) an enemy of Graphic Violence since their stint in Tornado Wrestling.
Borst was defeated in none title competition by Matthew thanks to more meddling by Sanjuro.
Asylum presented their first ever pay per view event; pAIN.
Bible bashing knobhead Noel made his presence felt.
After a difficult first month, Inmate finally came out triumphant in a three way brawl with Gibson Cage and K!D.
Chris Credible lost again... the difference this time was that people actually paid to see it at pAIN.
Koji Tamura defeated both Reno Davis and Irish Brawler in the same night to become the first ever U.K. Champion.
Archangel retained his T.V. title in a brawl with Matthew.
Only to be defeated at a special event just days later, making Matthew the T.V. Champion.
Pete Borst brought the year 2000 to a close by defeating Sanjuro in a match considered by many to be one of the most brutal in Asylum's history. In a battle that saw both men enclosed in a steel dome, Borst was victorious by knocking Sanjuro... but not before he'd been thrown off the structure onto a table that didn't break, causing Borst to injure his arm and wear a brace on it that would eventually become a somewhat iconic symbol.
